National Agricultural Youth Show: Celebrating Youth in Agriculture!
We're thrilled to bring you the highlights from the National Agricultural Youth Show, which took place from October 1st to October 4th in Clanwilliam. This incredible event saw the participation of 355 children aged 5 to 17, all eager to explore the world of agriculture!
This year's show was rich with learning experiences, featuring livestock demonstrations, auctioneering and even culinary art showcases, including the art of making dairy products. One of the show’s focuses is nurturing a holistic understanding of agriculture.
The National Agricultural Youth Society, founded in 1999, is dedicated to involving school children in the agricultural sector. Their primary aim is to cultivate a deep love for agriculture among the youth, offering opportunities for extracurricular agricultural activities and skills development while promoting teamwork.
Children participating in the youth show can select one of the 15 categories available. A significant objective of the show is to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship within the youth through agriculture.
Our beloved Angora goats were proudly featured alongside various animals, including cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, pigeons, poultry, and rabbits. It was a true celebration of South African agriculture's diverse and vibrant landscape.
Witnessing the dedication and passion of these young individuals was genuinely inspiring, and Mohair South Africa is proud to support the National Agricultural Youth Show. The children are learning respect for animals, the proper care and handling of Angora goats, and developing a deep understanding of the Mohair fibre – skills that will serve them well in the future.
The show recognised and celebrated young participants' hard work and dedication, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners, particularly those who chose to participate alongside our Angora goats!
