The 79th annual congress of the South African Mohair Growers’ Association, SAMGA, took place on Thursday, 1 June.

The global mohair clip for 2022 was 4.55 million kgs of which South Africa produced 51% and Lesotho produced 16%. Jointly, Southern Africa produced two thirds of the world’s mohair.

Mohair is benefiting from a range of fashion trends favouring the fibre’s natural and luxurious qualities, as highlighted at the latest textile trade fairs. Read more in the latest edition of Twist Magazine.
