The Fashion Bridges project is part of a broader effort to promote cultural and economic ties between Italy and South Africa. Italy is known worldwide for its fashion industry, and famous luxury brands.

This local artist is all about honouring the art of working with mohair. Design is a way to capture stories and memories of places and spaces and recreate these moments into objects.

Gugu Peteni studied fashion and textile design at the Nelson Mandela University (Cum Laude honours, 2017). Post-graduate, she worked as the in-house designer and retail manager for Mohair SA for three years, and in the process started her own fashion brand GUGUBYGUGU.
