South African Fashion Week Article

We partnered with Cape Wools to collaborate on the next edition of the SA Fashion Week, presenting the Cape Wools and Mohair SA Designer Challenge! One menswear designer and one ladieswear designer has been selected by a panel judges, and we are thrilled to announce that the winners are De Mil and LUNAR respectively! We are delighted to have these two designers on board, and are excited to experience their use of the wonderful attributes of the two stunning natural fibres.

Having travelled to the Eastern Cape to experience the on-farm activities of both wool and mohair farms, our two winners have had the opportunity to source yarns and fabrics from local suppliers, while gaining a deeper understanding of the manufacturing value chain.

Their designs will be showcased at the Autumn/Winter edition of the SA Fashion Week on the 25th of October 2019, as well as the Spring/Summer show in April 2020. The combining of two such beautiful natural fibres will form the perfect occasion to enhance the footprint of the South African wool and mohair industries.

De Mil and LUNAR will also have the opportunity to attend the Making It in Textiles Conference in the UK later this year, giving them the unique chance to develop an in-depth knowledge of both the British and global textile sector.
