Nampo Cape 2023
Amidst turbulent and stormy weather, the annual Nampo Cape event took place from 13 to 16 September in Bredasdorp, Western Cape. Hosting an impressive gathering of over 530 exhibitors and attracting 35,000 visitors, it can be hailed as a resounding success!
One of the major crowd-pleasers was the delightful Angora goats and their adorable kids, fondly referred to as "hansies.” Their presence drew considerable attention and admiration from the attendees. However, what truly stood out this year were the Mohair blankets, which became an instant sensation, selling out in the blink of an eye.
Additionally, the event offered a heartwarming opportunity to welcome students from the Blind School in Worcester. Their genuine fascination was incredible as they explored the various stages of mohair transformation, from its raw form to the final tops and yarn.
Despite the festivities, a minor setback occurred on Friday when fierce winds compelled us to evacuate all the tents for three hours. However, once the winds subsided, normal business operations resumed, and we were pleased to have a stream of amazing people visiting our stand for the remainder of the day.
We sincerely thank Neil Quale for generously lending us his goats for the week and Hans Greeff for his invaluable assistance throughout this eventful week. We eagerly look forward to an even bigger Nampo Cape in 2024!
