The Mohair South Africa team travelled to London last month for the 2023 Textile Exchange Conference. This global gathering brought together over 1,800 in-person and virtual attendees, encompassing a spectrum of voices from farmers and activists to CEOs and NGOs.

The global mohair clip for 2022 was 4.55 million kgs of which South Africa produced 51% and Lesotho produced 16%. Jointly, Southern Africa produced two thirds of the world’s mohair.

The Mohair Council of America (MCA) welcomed and spoilt us from the moment we landed in San Angelo, Texas. It was humbling and heart-warming as we visited a few ranches and their passion for their goats is visible and their love for the mohair industry is enormous.

Textile Exchange celebrated their 20th anniversary and hosted a cocktail function at the Mohair South Africa headquarters on Thursday, 8 September.

Mohair South Africa (MSA) and the Mohair Empowerment Trust (MET) participated in the virtual Animal Fibre Round Table hosted by Textile Exchange on Tuesday morning.
